Charlotte, North Carolina

Charlotte is the largest city in the Carolinas. The "Queen City" is now the second largest banking center in the USA, with no desire to surpass the current #1, New York City. As the financial hub of the New South, Charlotte has the necessary array of attractions:

  • Major League Sports - NBA Hornets; NFL Panthers
  • Symphony Orchestras (2)
  • Dance, Theater, Museums, Discovery Place
  • Fine Dining and less formal entertainment

Charlotte has all the features of a well-heeled urban environment without the daily drive-by shootings.

The Charlotte market (25 mile radius) supports a population of about 1.3 million citizens, about one-third the size of Atlanta. Residents of Charlotte enjoy a very liveable, manageable lifestyle.

The Charlotte medical community is dominated by two entities: Novant Health Services (Presbyterian Hospital uptown and Presbyterian Hospital in suburban Matthews) as well as Carolinas Healthcare System. CHCS, a/k/a "the System" operates the Charlotte Mecklenburg Hospital in uptown Charlotte as well as the University Hospital in the northern suburbs. CHCS also operates many outlying Hospitals throughout the Carolinas.

Charlotte, 765 feet above sea level, enjoys a truly moderate climate. Cold weather is rare, due in part to the sheltering effect of the mountains to the west. January is the coldest month, with an average temperature of 39.3 degrees. Snow is light and infrequent, occurring in December through March.

Summers in Charlotte are comfortably warm. July averages 79.3 degrees. The frost-free season averages annual precipitation of 43 inches.
